Abstract

The main objective of the PhD project is to evaluate the needs of experts from small disciplines to bridge the gap between traditional qualitative data from the humanities and data for big data analysis. Thereby a blind spot regarding cultural heritage data within training data will be closed. To further investigate this question a case study will be performed. The objective is to classify qualitatively annotated syllogism diagrams from the byzantine empire according to their syllogistic figure while simultaneously creating new annotations. With this interdisciplinary inquiry a pipeline for making qualitative data usable for big data applications will be developed.
