Abstract
Karlsruhe Research Accelerator uses its electron storage ring to generate strong synchrotron light. This light or radiation has a wavelength range that extends from x-rays to terahertz. It has been shown that the strength of the radiation can grow by many orders of magnitude when the electron bunch is compressed and "micro-bunches" are created. This phenomenon is known as coherent synchrotron radiation. In storage rings, conventional techniques for determining the dynamic or phase-space of the system are inapplicable. This study utilizes a state-of-the-art method for measuring the profile of electron bunchs to reconstruct the phase-space by using a time-dependent tomography algorithm.
